FADE IN:

EXT. OPEN SKY – DAY

We follow a plane as it flies through an open blue sky…

And towards a mountainous background.

LYRICS

There’s a plane and I am flying

There’s a mountain waiting for me

Continuing with the fluid camera we start to tilt down and away…

And find Stephen Hawking as we do so, his still gaze aimed high as he follows the plane in his electric wheelchair down a cemented path in a park. (Begin to track on him as he is brought into frame, falling back and up to wide)

LYRICS

Oh these years have been so trying

I don’t know if I can use them

EXT. SIDEWALK – DAY

Wide – Hawking comes rolling around the corner and towards camera…

LYRICS

Am I strong enough

to be the one

Will I live to have some children

Just as he pauses (and exits foreground) we pan 90° while simultaneously falling back a little, settling on a storefront window where The Killers perform behind.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

Medium close-up, despite being in a paralyzed body Hawking looks like a man on a mission as we track on him making his way down the sidewalk.

LYRICS

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

Medium close-up, The Killers performing.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

If I only knew the answer

Close-up, Hawking.

LYRICS

I wouldn’t be bothering you

Father

Medium wide shot, The Killers.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

INT. LARGE COLLEGE CLASSROOM – DAY

Starting from the top of a blackboard we fall back and down on the massive wall of knowledge (filled with mathematical formulas) to a wide…

The back of Hawking in his wheelchair as he sits and stares before the great wall of question.

LYRICS

If I only knew the answer

And if all our days are numbered

then why do I keep counting

Back in tighter, the numbered equations and such began to leave the blackboard and float in midair as they continuously encircle the busy-minded professor. (Camera starting to encircle halfway through)

LYRICS

My sugar sweet

is so attainable

This behavior so unexplainable

The days just slip and slide

like they always did

The trouble is my head

won’t let me forget

INT./EXT. STOREFRONT WINDOW – CONTINUOUS

Falling back on the band.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

I took one last good look around

So many unusual sounds

I gotta get my feet on the ground

EXT. PARK – DAY

Close-up, the seeker of truth in his wheelchair…

We quickly zoom out to a wide while countless mathematical formulas which sprout up in the air create a tunnel of sorts between Hawking and camera…

LYRICS

Help me get down

I can make it

EXT. STOREFRONT – CONTINUOUS

Wide, The Killers.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

EXT. PARK – CONTINUOUS

Wide, Hawking doing continuous 360’s in his wheelchair… (No visible floating formulas)

LYRICS

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

INT. STOREFRONT WINDOW – CONTINUOUS

Close-up, Brandon.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

If only I knew the answer

I wouldn’t be bothering you

Father

EXT. PARK – NIGHT

Hawking is still below the wide open sky, the stars above constellating into mathematical formulas.

LYRICS

Help me get down

I can make

Help me get down

EXT. STOREFRONT WINDOW – CONTINUOUS

Wide, lit by a few display lights, The Killers continue with their performance.

LYRICS

(Brandon singing)

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

EXT. PARK – CONTINUOUS

Low angle, Hawking in foreground, countless bright stars in the background starting to cluster together and rotate…

LYRICS

If I only knew the answer

and if all our days are numbered

DISSOLVE TO:

In an even more surreal moment Hawking’s within the galaxy as we start from him in extreme foreground, he and his wheelchair fly off into the rotating tunnel of stars (him and chair turning about as well) and becomes part of the grand spectacle of space. (Becoming small and bright like the rest of the stars the farther he gets)

LYRICS

Would you help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

Help me get down

I can make it

Help me get down

DISSOLVE TO:

From an extreme close up of the pupil of his eye we corkscrew back and away from the rotating (and smiling) Hawking, who is now in the center of the counter-rotating cosmos as we fall back to extreme wide…

LYRICS

If I only knew the answer

If I change my way of living

And if I pave my streets with good times

will the mountain keep on giving

Close-up, with his smile, Hawking stares up… (To camera)

LYRICS

And if all our days are numbered

And we fall up and back, leaving him alone in the park as he looks up at the night’s sky, getting smaller and smaller as we get higher and higher…

Above the city…

Country…

World…

Solar system…

Galaxy…

LYRICS

Then why do I keep counting

FADE OUT:

Song follows,

but first help me get down

I can make it…!
