FADE IN:

INT./EXT. HOME – EVENING

Dressed for a fancy night out, lady and gentleman hug and kiss their two children at the front door of their home, nanny standing nearby.

GIRL

Have a good time.

BOY

And don’t do anything I wouldn’t to do.

They all laugh.

LADY

Okay, you two don’t stay up too late.

And make sure you brush up teeth before bed.

They say their last goodbyes and Lady and Gentleman head down there steps and enter an awaiting limousine.

INT. LIMOUSINE – CONTINUOUS

Once inside the car pulls away, the couple dropping their happy façade, sitting as far away from each other as they can.

GENTLE MAN

Who ever heard of and eight and ten-year-old

saving to send the parents out

for an anniversary dinner, anyway?!

LADY

They were raised well.

Not that you had anything to do with it.

GENTLEMEN

Is that how we’re going to spend the evening?

With me defending the fact that I provide

for my children and ungrateful wife?

LADY

They worked hard for this.

Let’s try not to ruin it.

INT., FINE DINING ESTABLISHMENT – EVENING

The unhappy couple try their best not to show it as they eat among other well-to-do diners. (Moving camera)

Darren is brought into frame SINGING on a stage, dressed in tux.

LYRICS

(Darren singing)

I don’t want someone telling me what to do

I don’t wanna find out my temper grew wings

and flew to you

Lady takes a simple wine.

Gentleman, a bite of steak. Glances at watch…

LYRICS

Don’t want somebody telling me what’s not right

but I just want you to love me

Oh I just want you to love me

DISSOLVE TO:

Darren SINGING.

LYRICS

I don’t wanna have to lie about what’s inside

when there’s always been a tiny part of me

I’m trying to hide

DISSOLVE TO:

Lady’s eyes subtly look up at her husband then back down before glancing over to the flame of a candle lit atop the table.

LYRICS

I don’t want to see your expression when I let you down

and I just want you to love me

Oh I just want you to love me

We push into the flame and…

MATCH CUT:

(FLASHBACK)

Falling back on a flame which lights a younger version of Lady and Gentleman in their tiny studio apartment as they sit huddled together over cups of soup. (Camera favoring him more so than her)

LYRICS

There’s a haiku poem inside of my head

but the words are written in invisible ink

Now the world is changing

I can barely keep up

What was hot his over

what was down is not

DISSOLVE TO:

Enjoying their simple and humble beginnings their young love is strong. (Camera now favoring her more so than him)

LYRICS

Now Adam and Eve are trying to split up

and I can’t take anymore

‘Cause I just want you to love me

DISSOLVE TO:

(BACK TO PRESENT DAY)

Withdrawing from the dinner table’s candle flame we discover that Gentleman is gazing into it as well, sharing the moment.

LYRICS

Oh I just want you to love me

Hoo…

For the first time in a very long time Lady and Gentleman’s eyes meet…

Simultaneously there mirror side hands reach out and take hold of one another…

There love that was buried for so long begins to surface over the expressions on their face…

LYRICS

Love me

Oh I just want you to love me

DISSOLVE TO:

From the LAST VERSE to the END Lady and Gentleman look into each other’s eyes as if for the first time.

LYRICS

Oh I just want you to love me

Oh I just want you to love me

Oh I just want you to love me

Oh I just want you to love me
