FADE IN:

INT. MUSEUM – NIGHT

Surrounded by open crates two female curators catalog archaeological pieces.

In the distance, still in its open crate, an upright sculpture of a young man. (Darren)

CURATOR

So when are you

going back to Melbourne?

CURATOR #2

This weekend.

(Sighs)

I’m going to feel as old

as one of these pieces come morning.

CURATOR

You’re here for the opening?

She looks at her watch.

CURATOR

Why didn’t you say anything?

Go home. I can take care of the rest.

CURATOR #2

You sure?

I can do a few more-

Her colleague pick up a set of keys before she can finish.

CURATOR

Let’s go.

INT. MUSEUM ENTRANCE – MOMENTS LATER

The curator holds the door open for curator #2.

CURATOR

Get some rest.

CURATOR #2

Thanks a lot.

See you tomorrow.

After locking the double glass doors the curator heads back in to the wing of her work.

INT. MUSEUM – LATER

MUSIC STARTS

Starting from a close-up of the curator we slowly pull back as she lightly brushes a vase and catalogs it.

The further we pull back the better we see the sculpture of Darren and background.

With every TICK in the MUSIC he appears closer and closer (left, right, left, right, etc, always in stillness)

He’s right behind her, but she fails to notice.

An artist type, from the time of gods and the beginning of modern civilization. Perhaps well-traveled and knowledgeable in the philosophies of his day, for he possesses a look of knowing. Some might have mistaken it for arrogance due to the slight lines of knowing which contour his eyes and sly grin that the sculptor managed to capture as well.

LYRICS

You will like my sense of humor

You will be addicted to  my smile

The curator catches a glimpse of him from the corner of her eye.

Startled, she quickly turns around, but finds that he is in his original place.

LYRICS

Laughing all the while

She just sits there, looking over at him.

LYRICS

And I will end each conversation

Even from across the room it looks as though Darren is intent on her.

LYRICS

I will leave the room

with upper hand

She stands to her feet.

LYRICS

And you will understand

Although in stillness it’s like he’s beckoning her. She makes her way across the room.

LYRICS

Oh…

Face-to-face, she looks into his eyes. They look so real. Beyond a master’s touch.

LYRICS

You will find my scent attractive

You will like my real engaging eyes

and playful childlike smile

Darren’s pale hand gently brushes over the hair on the back of the curator’s head.

LYRICS

You will find my style appealing

She startles again. Immediately looks behind her, then to his statuesque mischievous hand.

LYRICS

I will overpower you with wit

She looks at him again. He would have been the type to play such trickery on others.

LYRICS

And I will be a hit

Heading back to her work area the curator glances up and is shocked to discover him standing there. She quickly looks back to where she left him…

He’s there again.

Looks back to her work area. Instantaneously he’s there.

LYRICS

If only you’d run to me

If only you’d come to me

Struck with panic she runs out of the room and down the hall.

LYRICS

If only you to relax

upon your rules

and dare to be love’s fool

Darren JOLTS to life, leaving his place of stillness as he walks out of the room. Stiff, but alive.

LYRICS

If only you’d come for me

If only you’d run to me

The curator desperately pulls at the museum’s locked doors.

LYRICS

If only you’d relax

upon those rules

It occurs to her. Her keys are on the table at her work area.

Quick insert shot of the keys.

Push in on her tight.

LYRICS

And dare to be love’s fool

Oh…

Extreme close-up on Darren’s stone cold feet as they rigidly walk down the hall.

He enters a large wing of paintings. Stops and looks around. (Wide shot)

Stretches his neck from the stiffness.

LYRICS

Waking up from a coma

A shot of a six-foot potted plant in one of the corners.

LYRICS

Tossing turning

He looks towards it.

LYRICS

Sweat has covered my body

Closer shot of the plant. Curator’s eyes can be seen through the leaves.

LYRICS

My mouth felt dry

Darren turns in her direction.

LYRICS

My life flashing before me

Extreme close-up of her mouth and throat as she swallows hard.

LYRICS

Nothing much to say

He slightly turns his head to the side, as if curious.

LYRICS

Most of it was so boring

Darren’s POV – Some of the leaves on the plant move a bit.

LYRICS

Did you hear me say

Extreme close-up of his compelling eyes.

LYRICS

Only I could adore you

He’s now in the center of the room, still facing the plant she hides behind. To his left and right, two more plants in the opposite corners of the room. The shot looks long and warped as he and the two plants are in the same frame, wind blowing their leaves and his hair.

LYRICS

The wind through the trees

In the same shot, Hitchcock style as his background falls away as he moves closer while staying still.

LYRICS

Silently barking orders

rushing up to me

With Darren’s surroundings (and therefore the walls on his left and right) moving past him, a long identical painting on each side of him comes into frame. It’s a frame of a stormy sea, the image actually moving as it continues to go on and on in this surreal moment.

LYRICS

This is only the beginning

Don’t anger the sea

Feel the waves crashing

higher and higher on me

The waves become more violent, shaking the whole frame from one side to another with each “CRASH”, all while he gets closer and closer to her.

LYRICS

CRASH

CRASH

CRASH

CRASH

Close-up as he slightly tilts his head to the side while moving towards camera. (Creating a tighter shot)

LYRICS

If only you’d relax

upon your rules

Not being able to bring herself to move the curator is now the one in stillness.

LYRICS

And dare to be love’s fool

The plant which separates he and her turns to stone.

LYRICS

All the blinking lights

noise of eternity

All the sentences swirling

It SHATTERS into pieces.

LYRICS

Inside of me

Now directly in front of her Darren puts his cold index finger over her trembling lips.

LYRICS

Inside of me

The pale stone in his finger begins to spread to the curator’s lips.

Chin.

Cheeks.

Nose.

Her whole face.

LYRICS

I have censored my eyes

I hear drums in my ears

Redirected desire

Now it comes out as tears

Her face is now like his, her eyes appearing to be the only part that remains truly life-like.

LYRICS

It comes out as tears

Oh…

MOMENTS LATER

Extreme close-up of her skin, the stone poring over it and hardening the flesh. It continues to spread while we slowly pull back to see that he is carrying her in his pale arms as she goes through her transformation.

LYRICS

You will like my sense of humor

He heads for the entrance/exit of the wing.

LYRICS

You will like my sense of humor

We slowly crane up and away as he leaves the large room. (Matching the MUSIC)

FADE TO BLACK

While in black, the SOUND of FOOTSTEPS walking on the marble floors of the museum.

CURATOR #2 (O.S.)

So every thing’s up and ready?

MALE VOICE (O.S.)

Yes, ma’am.

FADE BACK IN as the FOOTSTEPS come to a stop as we tilt up on the stone sculptures of the exhibit. Among them, Darren and the curator, companions in stillness.

CURATOR #2

Funny, I don’t remember

a female among them.

Not making the connection between the curator and the new sculpture, Curator #2 just shrugs it off as she turns to leave.

CURATOR #2

Well, I was exhausted last night.

(As she leaves the room)

Looks like we’re all set.
