INT. COFFEE SHOP – MORNING

In her favorite coffee shop Annie takes a seat on a large pillow atop a daybed which sits beside a glass window.

After a sip of chai tea she places her drink on a nearby table and opens up a notebook as she readies herself for the blank pages which await her pen.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

I didn’t want to know you

I didn’t mean to be a friend

but now it seems

I’d run through burnin’ fire

just to see your face again

She leans forward.

Ballpoint pen makes contact with the paper’s surface.

And she begins to write.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

I didn’t want to hurt you

(or be hurt by you)

at the closing of the game

But now it seems

too late for that desire

I watched it all go up in flames

She starts to sit back up.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

I watched it all go up in flames

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. COFFEE SHOP – LATER

Close-up, Annie rests her head against the wall.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

Tell me

darlin’

what would it take

Then lifts her head a little.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

To untie the twist in us?

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. COFFEE SHOP – LATER

Extreme close-up, Annie’s pen writes with a feverish passion.

LYRICS

‘Cause it’s makin’ my heart ache

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. COFFEE SHOP – LATER

Extreme close-up, we pan from the pen writing in the notebook to the window and through it to the blue open sky outside.

LYRICS

Yeah

The sky goes dark, stars revealed.

LYRICS

La la la la la la

Under a cloak of darkness

INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT

Like a child under their tent blanket Annie sits in her bed under the covers with a flashlight as she continues to write.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

Under the covers where we laid

There I spent my dreams with you

Now I’ve hid them all away

She gazes off in contemplation.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

I guess I’ve hid them all away

INT. TRAIN – DAY

Annie sits with her back to a window. (Slow fall back to reveal she’s alone in the coach)

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

Nothin’

and no one

touches me like you

But how could I believe in this

when none of it was true?

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. COUNTRYSIDE – DAY

The train rides through beautiful countryside. (Crane up)

LYRICS

Yes

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. WIDE OPEN LAND – DAY

Crane down to a close-up on Annie as she looks out to the landscape in remembrance.

LYRICS

(I knew from the first time that I set my eyes on you)

In extreme wide Annie walks out onto the landscape and towards a cherry tree.

Close-up from Annie’s back, her head turned left. (So camera gets that full side view)

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

Oh my darlin’

Oh my lover

All the words come back to me

As she turns her head around to her right camera follows, finding a scene from the past now before her.

Her former lover (his back to camera) and her stand underneath the cherry tree as he talks to her. (Side of present Annie’s face still in foreground)

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

I remember I remember

everything you said to me

Past Annie is guided around to where both now have their backs to camera as they start to walk away.

They DISSOLVE. (As blossoms begin to fall)

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

We went walking

out in silence

underneath the cherry tree

Present Annie turns around to camera (looking beyond it) as it simultaneously falls back to a wide, leaving her in center frame.

LYRICS

(Annie singing)

Falling Blossom

Falling Blossom

Falling from the cherry tree

Another version of Annie appears in left frame (background) and SINGS THE LYRICS COMING IN OVER THE FIRST SET.

LYRICS

(Annie #1 and #2 singing)

I didn’t mean to make you suffer

I didn’t mean to make you cry

You didn’t mean to make me suffer

You didn’t mean to make me cry

A THIRD ANNIE APPEARS, this one in foreground of right frame as she SINGS the third vocal track. (Ad Libs)

AS THE LAST OF ANNIE’S AD LIBS COME INTO FOREGROUND OF SONG we…

DISSOLVE TO:

INT./EXT. BOOK SHOP – DAY

Slow fall back on the open landscape with cherry tree reveals it’s part of a book cover, title: TWISTED.

Continuing with the fall back we realize the book is among others on display in a book shop.

Our fluid fall back goes into a crane up as we exit the store through its plate glass window.

Ascend above the shop and neighborhood it’s in…

And through white clouds until…
