FADE IN:

Kenny walks up to a simple farm home, takes a seat on the front porch and starts to PLAY his GUITAR. (START MUSIC)

A pickup truck pulls up to the house and Grady Johnson gets out and heads inside.

Kenny starts to SING.

LYRICS

(Kenny singing)

Grady Johnson was a common man

Four children and some bottomland

Inside, Grady and his family have dinner around the dining room table while enjoying each others company through laughter.

LYRICS

Early to bed he said

Well that ain’t me

gotta spend some time

with my family

Back outside, Kenny SINGS as the season around him changes.

Playing guitar, Kenny Rogers Slow Dance More

LYRICS

Left to his own device

May becomes June

and children grow up

way too soon

The change in seasons now going to fast-forward as we fall back and reveal Grady and his wife slow dancing a few feet away there on the porch.

LYRICS

(Kenny singing)

So

Love your neighbor as yourself

Don’t use money

to measure wealth

Trust in God

but lock your door

Buy low

sell high

and slow dance more

DISSOLVE TO:

Kenny still at his same spot on the porch, Grady’s wife now comes out of the house with a basket of laundry and heads to a close line already full of clean linens.

LYRICS

(Kenny singing)

Mamie Johnson

was Grady’s wife

She bore his children and she

graced his life

What matters most

is what you do with

what you’ve got

And

More I

think I understand

what my father’s

father meant

when he said

son what matters most

you can count on just one hand

The children return in different cars, all as old as their parents were and with families of their own as they head up to the front porch to greet their now senior citizen mother and father..
